The abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls by Boko Haram in 2014 was part of a wider pattern of Gender-Based Violence against women and girls during the conflict in northeast Nigeria. The experiences of this broader set of victims have largely failed to capture the interest of the media and have also exposed the limitations of domestic and international responses to GBV. Please join us for a discussion with Francisca Vigaud-Walsh, whose new report for Refugees International, "Nigeria's Displaced Women and Girls: Humanitarian Community at Odds, Boko Haram's Survivors Forsaken," is based on a recent visit to Borno State. She will be joined by Mike Jobbins of Search for Common Ground, who will discuss his recent visit to the region and SFCG's programs on security and protection for women.
This event is made possible by general support to the CSIS Africa Program.
