Tuesday, July 12, 2016 4:45 pm - 5:30 pm
CSIS Headquarters

The CSIS China Power Project is pleased to host a public discussion with Ambassador Cui Tiankai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United States. Coming hours after a tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration will issue its verdict on Chinese claims in the South China Sea, Ambassador Cui will discuss China’s perspective on the award and the future of the South China Sea disputes.

Ambassador Cui was appointed as ambassador to the United States in 2013. A career diplomat, he served previously as vice foreign minister from 2009 to 2013 and before that as ambassador to Japan from 2007 to 2009. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
