Of Revolutions, Old and New – Russian Roulette Episode #25
This edition of Russian Roulette is – in a word – revolutionary. On the centennial of the February Revolution of 1917 and the anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine just three years ago, today’s episode digs deep into the history of these two consequential historical moments and focuses on their resonance for the present day. First, Olga and Jeff sit down with Eric Lohr, Professor and Susan E. Carmel Chair of Russian History and Culture at American University, to discuss the February Revolution. Then, our hosts chat with Anna Kovalenko, a Ukrainian activist who headed the 39th Women’s Maidan Self-Defense forces during the Revolution of Dignity, about her personal, on the ground experience of revolution just three years ago.
