The Threat of the Falling Working-Age World
Robert England, former Research Director for the CSIS Commission on Global Aging, presented his new study, The Fiscal Challenge of an Aging Industrial World, on Monday, Jan. 28. A panel of experts on population demographics, including William Haseltine, CEO of Human Genome Sciences, discussed the threat of falling working-age populations across Europe, North America, and Japan. "The future imbalance between workers and retirees in industrial nations…could lead to large tax increases, dampened economic growth, or even aging recessions," the study states.
