The Future of U.S. Nuclear Energy

Dick Meserve, Former Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and current Senior Of Counsel at Covington & Burling sat down with Jane Nakano, Senior Fellow in the CSIS Energy and National Program, to discuss the future of nuclear electric power in the United States, which faces economic competition from inexpensive natural gas and growing renewables as well as weak power demand growth.

For more information on our program’s recent work on nuclear power, please see Nuclear Energy at a Crossroads,Westinghouse’s Bankruptcy and its Implications, Nuclear Energy at a Crossroads – A Conversation with Bill Magwood, and Secretary Ernest Moniz’s keynote on the future of U.S. nuclear power.
