The CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum with Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter Cayetano of the Philippines
The CSIS Southeast Asia Program and the U.S.-Philippines Strategic Initiative are pleased to present the CSIS-Pertamina Banyan Tree Leadership Forum with Alan Peter Cayetano, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines. He will discuss U.S.-Philippine relations, Philippine foreign policy under President Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines' activities and plans as chair of ASEAN in 2017, and recent developments in the country.
Mr. Cayetano was appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs in May 2017 after serving in the Senate of the Philippines since 2007. During his time in the Senate, Mr. Cayetano chaired the Agrarian Reform and Foreign Relations committees from 2016 to 2017, served as Majority Floor Leader from 2013 to 2016, Minority Floor Leader of the Senate from 2010 to 2013, and chair of the Blue Ribbon Committee from 2007 to 2009.
