March 19, 2018
WASHINGTON, March 19, 2018:The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is pleased to announce that Adam Sieminski, the James R. Schlesinger Chair for Energy and Geopolitics at CSIS, has been selected to be the new president of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. KAPSARC was founded in 2008 as an independent research institution to advance the understanding of energy economics and to promote dialogue that charts a path to better welfare for societies, locally and globally.
“We are thrilled with Adam’s appointment as the new president of KAPSARC,” said John Hamre, president and CEO of CSIS. “It is amazing to see how much the institution has grown in a short period of time, and we have no doubt Adam will take it in an even more positive direction. It has been great to have Adam here at CSIS, and we look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”
Mr. Sieminski will continue to serve as a nonresident senior affiliate to the CSIS Energy and National Security program. CSIS and KAPSARC also plan to work together on several strategic initiatives going forward. Before coming to CSIS, Mr. Sieminski served as the administrator of the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) and before that was Deutsche Bank’s chief energy economist.
