A Conversation with Jonathan Pershing

Climate Change and the National and Corporate Interest
Tuesday, April 17, 2018 10:00 am - 11:15 am
CSIS Headquarters
Due to technical difficulties, a portion of Dr. Pershing’s presentation is missing from the video and audio recordings. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The CSIS Energy & National Security Program is pleased to host Jonathan Pershing (Hewlett Foundation) for a discussion on strategies in the philanthropic community to address climate change, including ongoing work at the Hewlett Foundation.

Jonathan Pershing is the Program Director of Environment at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Previously, Jonathan served as Special Envoy for Climate Change at the U.S. Department of State and lead U.S. negotiator to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. Prior to that, Jonathan served as the Senior Climate Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Energy and the Principal Deputy Director of the Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis at the Department of Energy.

Climate Change and the National and Corporate Interest is a high-level speaker series showcasing a variety of country and corporate perspectives on plausible pathways for pursuing a climate change strategy and why those actions are in their national or commercial interest. Through discussions with high-level government officials and corporate executives, this series aims to broaden the range and depth of understanding of how each country has its own interpretation of why climate action is in their national interest and how global corporations are positioning themselves to be competitive in a lower-carbon future.

This event is made possible by general funding to CSIS and the Energy & National Security Program.
