Joseph S. Bermudez Jr. Joins CSIS as Senior Fellow for Imagery Analysis

CSIS is fortunate to have him help build our capabilities in this area.”
Before joining CSIS, Mr. Bermudez was the senior imagery analyst for 38 North at Johns Hopkins SAIS, where his work gained international recognition. Mr. Bermudez did similar work at the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea and for IHS Markit (formerly the Jane’s Information Group). Mr. Bermudez is known for his expertise on North Korean defense and intelligence affairs, and ballistic missile development in the developing world.
Mr. Bermudez was also the chief analytics officer and co-founder of AllSource Analysis, Inc. and senior all-source analyst for DigitalGlobe’s Analysis Center. While at both AllSource Analysis and DigitalGlobe’s Analysis Center, he led a team of imagery and all-source analysts covering a diverse portfolio of subjects including humanitarian issues in Sudan, Russian expansion in the Arctic, the Arab Spring, Chinese security developments and a host of other international issues. He is also an award-winning author and lecturer.
