Debasis Gupta

Debasis Gupta is an adjunct fellow with the Wadhwani Chair in U.S.-India Policy Studies at CSIS. He has over 40 years of experience in the Indian power sector, working mostly with the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, a leading private sector power utility in India. Debasis has worked across major areas of distribution, including engineering and technology, smart grids, operations and management, distribution automation, and digital and emerging technologies, in commercial, regulatory, and business development functions. Debasis has experience working extensively on various projects and assignments in India and internationally. His passions include mentoring and training power sector professionals, consultancy, giving talks and presentations, and writing. He is interested in the bridging of traditional power system practices with current technologies in electronics, telecom, and information technology. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
