Adam Sieminski

Adam Sieminski is the senior adviser to the board of trustees of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC). KAPSARC is a leading advisory think tank located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Its mission is to advance Saudi Arabia’s energy sector and inform global policies on energy, economics, and the environment through evidence-based advice and applied research. He served as the president of KAPSARC from April 2018 to August 2021. Prior to joining KAPSARC in 2018, he held the CSIS James R. Schlesinger Chair for Energy & Geopolitics. From 2012 through 2016 he served as administrator of the Energy Information Administration (EIA) at the U.S. Department of Energy. While awaiting U.S. Senate confirmation for the EIA appointment, he was the senior director for energy and environment on the U.S. National Security Council at the White House. He was previously Deutsche Bank’s chief energy economist and integrated oil company analyst, working in London, New York, and Washington. Sieminski is a senior fellow and former president of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics and was president of the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. He also served on the National Petroleum Council (NPC), on the advisory board of the Global Energy and Environment Initiative at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, as chairman of the Supply-Demand Committee of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, and as a member of the Strategic Energy Task Force of the Council on Foreign Relations. He belongs to the CFA Society of Washington, D.C., and holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation. Mr. Sieminski received both an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in public administration from Cornell University.
