Brian T. Mulvihill

Military Fellow, International Security Program

Lieutenant Colonel Brian T. Mulvihill is a military fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He is an infantry officer who has led U.S. Marines in the operating forces at every rank, with multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as deployments to Africa, Asia, and South America. His senior staff tours include Headquarters Marine Corps, United States Southern Command, and United States Africa Command.

Lieutenant Colonel Mulvihill possesses the additional military occupational specialties of operations and tactics instructor, foreign security force advisor, and joint qualified officer. He holds a B.S. in marine transportation from State University of New York Maritime College and an M.A. in strategic security studies from the College of International Security Affairs at the National Defense University, where he was a distinguished graduate and the recipient of the Chancellor’s Leadership and Service Award.
