Carlos A. Bulgheroni
Carlos Alberto Bulgheroni was born in Rufino, Argentina, in 1945. He earned a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires. He is of Italian and Argentine nationality. Dr. Bulgheroni is president of Bridas Corporation, a company leader in the energy sector, specializing in oil- and gas-related activities. He is a member of the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI), Bolsa de Comercio de Buenos Aires, the Foundation for Latin American Economic Research (FIEL), the Fundacion Mediterranea, the Peres Center for Peace, the Argentine Russian Business Council, and the Fundacion Teatro Colon (he is its founder as well). At CSIS, in addition to acting as a trustee, he is also an international councillor and a senior adviser to the Human Space Exploration Initiative. In addition, Dr. Bulgheroni is the founder and secretary of the Fundacion Policia Federal Argentina. He previously served as cochairman of the International Committee at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and is currently serving as a member there. He is the founder and a current partner of the U.S. & Argentine Caucus. He was nominated by the Italian president as a Grand Officer of the Italian Republic, and King Juan Carlos I of Spain awarded him the Order of Isabel La Catolica. Previously, Dr. Bulgheroni served as president of the Argentine Business Council, as a member of the Business Advisory Board of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, as president and representative for Mercosur from 1990 to 2002 for the Mercosur European Business Forum (MEBF), and as a member of the Executive Board of the ICC in Paris.
