Efthimia Maria (“Mariefaye”) Bechrakis
Mariefaye (Efthimia) Bechrakis is program manager and research associate for the Human Rights Initiative (HRI) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). In this role, she conducts research on various international human rights topics, such as technology and human rights, business and human rights, human trafficking, and forced labor. She holds an LLB from the UK and France and an LLM in international law from the Georgetown University Law Center (obtained with dean’s list honors). She is barred as an attorney in the state of New York. Prior to joining CSIS, she worked for UN agencies such as UNESCO and the UN Global Compact Network Canada, nongovernmental organizations, as well as the private sector, covering a broad range of human rights issues, including gender equality, international trade, and sanctions. Mariefaye is bilingual in English and Greek, and proficient in French.
