Emma Bates is the program coordinator and research assistant with the Project on History and Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where she organizes the program’s public events, coordinates the program’s publications, and conducts supportive research in strategic issues and policy. Previously, Emma interned with the Project on International Order and Strategy at the Brookings Institution and with the Office of Egyptian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. She holds a B.A. from Wellesley College, followed by three years working in Latin America and Spain. She is finishing her M.A. at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
