Emma Bates

Program Manager and Research Associate, Project on History and Strategy

Emma Bates is the program manager and research associate for the Project on History and Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where she manages program events, funds, and publications and conducts research on U.S. grand strategy and national security. Previously, Emma interned with the Project on International Order and Strategy at the Brookings Institution and with the Office of Egyptian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Previously, she spent three years working for universities and NGOs in Latin America and Spain. She holds a B.A. from Wellesley College and an M.A. in international economics and American foreign policy from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
