Gaurav Sansanwal is a fellow for the Chair on India and Emerging Asia Economics at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C., where he leads the Chair’s economic and legal policy work in supporting the U.S.- India commercial partnership. As part of his work, Mr. Sansanwal facilitates U.S.- India policy collaboration in sectoral areas such as electric mobility, energy efficiency, manufacturing competitiveness, and industrial decarbonization. Additionally, Mr. Sansanwal continues to support the chair’s policy engagement to strengthen the U.S.- India economic relationship through increased bilateral trade, supply chain diversification, and deployment of emerging technologies. Before transitioning to a career in public policy, Mr. Sansanwal worked as a commercial lawyer in India. His dispute resolution and regulatory experience involved advising public and private sector clients from industries including infrastructure, energy, technology and telecommunications, and financial services. Previously, Mr. Sansanwal has held policy roles at the World Bank, Asia Society Policy Institute, and Dentons Global Advisors-Albright Stonebridge Group. Mr. Sansanwal holds a MS in global business and finance from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University; a LLB from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi; and a BA in political science from Hindu College, University of Delhi.
