Hannah Porter is a research associate in the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Her research focuses on Yemen and the GCC, as well as Egypt. She previously worked as a journalist and has been published in The New Arab, Middle East Eye, Mada Masr, and Ahram Online. Hannah has lived and studied across the Middle East, including in Yemen, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon. She holds a B.A. in Arabic Studies from the University of Maryland and an M.A. from the University of Chicago's Center for Middle Eastern Studies, where she wrote her thesis on Yemen's Houthi movement. She was also a fellow at the Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA) in Amman from 2014 to 2015.
