Harrison Prétat is deputy director and fellow with the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). His research focuses on maritime disputes, grey zone coercion, and challenges to the rules-based international maritime order. He is an expert in the use of commercial satellite imagery and remote sensing tools for geopolitical analysis and writes and speaks regularly on the South China Sea disputes, maritime security in the Indo-Pacific, freedom of navigation, U.S.-China relations, and seabed mining. His analysis has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, BBC, CNN, Reuters, AP, and other major media outlets. He holds an MA in international relations from Syracuse University.
