Jacob Helberg currently serves as policy advisor leading news policy at Google in San Francisco and Mountain View, California. In this capacity, Jacob helps Google executives identify and anticipate broad emerging policy risks and trends, and he leads internal cross-functional conversations to develop new policies addressing those risks. His areas of expertise include developing internal and external policies to protect Google products against the threats of disinformation, foreign interference, and bad actors undermining election integrity. Simultaneously, Jacob is also pursuing an executive M.S. degree in cybersecurity risk and strategy at New York University. Jacob serves on the National Council of the School of Media and Public Affairs at the George Washington University. Prior to joining Google, Jacob co-founded Geoquant, a geopolitical risk forecasting technology company backed by Swiss Re’s venture capital arm, one of the world’s largest reinsurers. Jacob graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in international affairs from the George Washington University.
