John Emery

John R. Emery is currently serving as a senior policy development specialist at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. He is also an adjunct professor of international security in the Department of International and Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Emery received his PhD in political science at the University of California, Irvine in 2019. His research focuses on issues of technology in international relations, nuclear history, ethics of war, wargaming, security studies, and AI ethics. He was a member of the 2021-2024 Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Project on Nuclear Issues Mid-Career Cadre. Previously, Dr. Emery was a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow at Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation. He has published widely in edited volumes and academic journals, including Ethics & International Affairs, Texas National Security Review, Critical Military Studies, Peace Review, Political Psychology, and Law & Policy.
