John Thurow

John Thurow brings over 15 years of experience advancing international development, innovation strategy, and global partnerships across more than 40 countries. Prior to joining Purdue, he served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Agency for International Development, where he led global innovation initiatives and development projects focusing largely on sustainable agriculture, economic growth and trade, energy abundance, and water use efficiency. He has lived and worked in India, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan, fostering cross-sector collaboration with governments, universities, and industry partners. John holds a BA in political economy from Hillsdale College and an MS in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Wyoming. He is passionate about understanding the economic effects of government policies within and among nations, particularly in Asia and the Indo-Pacific region.
