Kevin Kurland is a senior adviser at Beacon Global Strategies, after having served 28 years at the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). While at BIS, Mr. Kurland served as both principal deputy assistant secretary for export enforcement and acting principal deputy assistant secretary for strategic trade and technology security, the two most senior career positions in the BIS. He was responsible for implementing and enforcing U.S. dual-use export controls, as well as the defense industrial base, Section 232, and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States programs. Mr. Kurland also held the positions of deputy chief of staff-policy for the under secretary for industry and security, director of the Office of Enforcement Analysis, and acting chief of staff for the assistant secretary for export administration. In December 2021, he was awarded the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award. Mr. Kurland holds an MA in comparative and regional studies from American University and a BA in international relations from Syracuse University.
