The Honorable Kristyn E. Jones is a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Ms. Jones brings 30 years of public and private sector leadership with a successful record of transforming multi-billion-dollar business operations and driving change in federal agencies. She recently served as the Acting Undersecretary of the Air Force, the chief operating officer of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. This is the second-highest position in the military department and is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping forces and for the welfare of approximately 700,000 active duty, guard, reserve, and civilian personnel and their families. Ms. Jones also served as the Senate-confirmed Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller. In this role, she was the principal adviser to the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and Chief of Space Operations on all financial matters. She drove the strategy and execution for financial management and business analysis necessary for the effective and efficient use of resources. Previously, Ms. Jones was a managing director in KPMG’s Federal Advisory practice, supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and other federal clients. She also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Information Management. Additionally, she held leadership roles in several Fortune 500 corporations. A West Point graduate, MBA, and former Army officer, Ms. Jones has deep expertise in strategic planning, risk management, financial management, cyber security, talent management, and innovation.
