Michael Buttner is a program coordinator for congressional and government affairs at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. In this role he assists the center in maintaining and creating engagement opportunities between members of Congress, congressional staff, and CSIS program experts. His responsibilities include facilitating briefings, dinners, public events, and congressional testimony of CSIS experts. Prior to joining CSIS, Michael worked in the Senate for four years covering defense, veterans, human rights, and foreign policy. He is currently studying for an MA in international affairs at American University, and he holds a BA in political science and history from Clemson University. He joined CSIS in August 2022.
