Michael Svetlik

Michael Svetlik serves as COO of Halifax International Security Forum (HFX) and as a senior associate (non-resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He provides strategic direction and oversight of HFX’s operational and program support functions. For CSIS, he works as part of its Project on Prosperity and Development, conducting research and hosting multisector dialogues on improving lives in emerging economies while addressing U.S. foreign policy goals. Michael has extensive nonprofit, think tank, and civil service experience, including with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy, and Development. He has served as vice president of programs, the regional director of Europe and Asia, and project manager of Tbilisi, Georgia, and Baku, Azerbaijan, at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. In addition, he has been a research fellow at the Caucasus Institute for Peace. Michael is an alumnus of both the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the University of Texas at Austin.
