Rodney MacAlister

Rodney MacAlister is a senior adviser (non-resident) with the Project on Prosperity and Development at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He is associate senior consultant – Americas for the Oxford Consulting Group, a leadership services firm serving the development sector. He is also the founder of MacAlister Group & Associates, launched in 2014. During his career he has served as the general manager of VAALCO Energy in Gabon (2011–2014), managing director of the Africa Middle Market Fund (2008–2011), and CEO of the U.S. African Development Foundation (2006–2007). He was an independent consultant for conflict zone foreign direct investment from 2003 to 2006. He also occupied various positions at ConocoPhillips from 1978 to 2003. Rodney holds BA and MA degrees in international relations from the University of Redlands, California, and spent a year doing postgraduate work at the Sorbonne, Paris.
