
Lieutenant Colonel Scott Murphy is the 2024–2025 Commandant of the Marine Corps fellow in the Defense and Security Department at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Scott commissioned into the Marine Corps in May 2005. After entry level and MOS training as an Armor officer, he reported to his first duty station in Twentynine Palms, California. Following his time in Twentynine Palms, Scott served in a variety of operational and staff roles in Quantico, Virginia; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and Washington, DC. Most recently, Scott was a training advisor at Training and Education Command in Quantico, helping Marine Corps units incorporate new concepts and equipment. Throughout his career, Scott has had the privilege of serving alongside the most talented servicemembers in the Marine Corps and Joint Force. Scott has a BS in political science and an MA in security studies.
