
Sophia Hirshfield is a research associate for the Global Health Policy Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where she supports the pandemic preparedness and response portfolio. Sophia joined CSIS as an intern with the Global Health Policy Center before starting full time in July 2023. She holds a BA in international affairs and global public health from the George Washington University and a MS in biodefense from George Mason University. Sophia previously served as president of the George Mason chapter of the NextGen Global Health Security Network, a group of early to mid-career professionals and students engaged in strengthening the world's ability to respond to infectious disease threats.
