Sultan Meghji

Sultan Meghji is a non-resident senior technical expert in the Economic Security and Technology Department at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Frontier Foundry Corporation, which develops deterministic, secure AI systems for regulated industries, including financial services, defense and intelligence, and healthcare. Its platforms are deployed across major U.S. banks and support anti–money laundering, fraud detection, and sovereign AI applications for government and critical infrastructure. Previously, Mr. Meghji served as the inaugural chief innovation officer at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where he led technology modernization and emerging-technology strategy. He has advised the G7, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and international financial and security agencies on AI, digital assets, cybersecurity, and financial resilience. With three decades of experience spanning AI, fintech, biotechnology, and cybersecurity, he began his research career at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications in 1992. He has taught at Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering and Washington University’s Olin Business School, and his writing has appeared in Bloomberg Opinion and The Wall Street Journal. He is a frequent commentator on AI, financial regulation, and national security.
