Associated Programs: Alliances and American Leadership ProjectColonel Trent Scott has served as an infantry officer in the Australian Army since 1991 and recently completed three years as director for operational plans at Australia’s Headquarters Joint Operations Command. He has significant operational experience, including deployments to East Timor (twice); the Solomon Islands, as the J3 of the Regional Assistance Mission Solomon Islands; Iraq, as the deputy director of the Counterinsurgency Training Centre; and Afghanistan, as the deputy director of the Counterinsurgency Training Centre and as commanding officer 3 RAR Task Group. Colonel Scott is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the U.S. Marine Corps School of Advanced Warfighting, both at Quantico, Virginia. He holds a bachelor of arts (honors) in politics from the University of New South Wales and master’s degrees in military studies and operational studies from the Marine Corps University, in international relations from Deakin University, and in international public policy from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
