Zach Huitink

Zach Huitink is an adjunct fellow with the Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group in the International Security Program at CSIS. His areas of research and expertise are in weapon systems procurement, the defense industry, and cybersecurity. In recent projects, he has focused on knowledge-based strategies to defense acquisition and quantitative approaches to measuring and modeling industrial concentration in defense sectors. His current work examines the growth and strategic impacts of private cyber threat intelligence firms, focusing on firms' business practices, analytic tradecraft, and approaches to developing and communicating attribution findings. He has broader interests in the economic dimensions of statecraft and espionage. Huitink holds a Ph.D. with concentrations in public policy and international security from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, an M.P.P. from the James W. Martin School at the University of Kentucky, and an honors B.A. in economics from Coe College. He is currently a professor in the Maxwell School's Department of Public Administration and International Affairs.
