Episode 6: Can Venezuela Be Saved by Zombies?
If the Organization of American States (OAS) is unable to handle Venezuela – the most pressing problem in the hemisphere – then what good is it? This week, Benjamin Gedan, a Public Policy Fellow at the Wilson Center and ex-U.S. diplomat, talks about his controversial article that called for the disbanding of the OAS (“a zombie forum”) in favor of an organization that can get stuff done. Likely this would mean a hemispheric body that greatly reduces the ability of the Caribbean states to block action. Ben is joined by Moises Rendon, a Venezuela expert at CSIS, and host Richard Miles. If you have a question for Richard, email it to firstname.lastname@example.org with "35 West" in the subject line. Include your twitter handle so we can shout out to you if we answer it on the air.
Guests: Wilson Center Public Policy Fellow Benjamin Gedan and CSIS Associate Fellow Moises Rendon
