Nanno Kleiterp, Chairman of the Board for EDFI-the Association of European Development Finance Institutions, joins Dan for this week’s podcast to discuss how the environment of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) has changed over the past year. DFIs invest in high-risk emerging markets and pave the way for private capital. EDFI is made up of 15 companies that have a combined portfolio of close to $50 billion. CSIS in collaboration with EDFI published a report last fall, Development Finance Institutions Come of Age, that suggested that DFI investments will surpass Official Development Assistance around 2020. Nanno also discusses his recent book, Banking for a Better World, and his experiences working at FMO, the Dutch Development Bank. To hear more from Nanno and more about DFIs, check out the recording from last week’s event, Development Finance Institutions in a Changing Global Economy.
