Celina Schocken is CEO of Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon, an independent affiliate of the George W. Bush Institute that focuses on cervical and breast cancer prevention and treatment. We asked her to speak about the organization’s work, including why cervical cancer screening should be part of HIV and reproductive health, new innovative technologies, and an April delegation led by President George W. Joseph Dieleman is Assistant Professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. In this role, he leads the Financial Resources for Health research team, which focuses on tracking development assistance for health, health expenditure by disease, and government health expenditure. Last week, IHME released two research articles published in the Lancet, a policy report, and a technical report on health financing. We asked Joe to reflect on the current state of global health financing and the future landscape.

Patricia Davidson is Dean of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Since joining the University in September 2013, Dean Davidson has introduced a new degree program, doubled the school’s PhD program intake, and increased engagement with communities locally, nationally, and internationally. She is an award-winning leader in cardiac health for women and health of indigenous peoples. Dean Davidson is also on the board of C.U.G.H, the Consortium of Universities for Global Health an organization of more than 145 academic institutions and other organizations from around the world engaged in addressing global health challenges. We asked Dean Davidson to reflect on the CUGH’s 8th annual global health conference held recently in Washington.

The CSIS Global Health Policy Center launched a Task Force on Women’s and Family Health in October 2015. The Task Force has generated a bold vision for a major U.S. initiative led by the Trump administration with the goal of securing the health and prospects of adolescent girls and young women in 13 low-income countries. The Task Force unveiled its final report at CSIS on March 20. Chris Elias is President of Global Development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He is also a member of the CSIS Task Force on Women’s and Family Health. We asked him to discuss the Task Force recommendation to increase access to voluntary family planning.
