Overcoming Barriers to Trade and Investment

Examining the main roadblocks to increased economic growth and investment in Sub-Saharan Africa.

An ongoing dialogue with African business leaders and their U.S. counterparts about the main challenges they face in doing business in Africa. Themes explored include bureaucratic red tape, poor infrastructure—particularly electricity supply—and low levels of regional integration. The CSIS Africa Program also considers ways for the U.S. government to promote and incentivize trade with, and investment into, Africa.
