The region is undergoing critical political transitions in Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and Tanzania—and Kenya is preparing for consequential elections in 2022. These processes have increased political tensions, and, in the case of Ethiopia, spurred a devastating civil war. The CSIS Africa Program is focused on the escalating crisis in Ethiopia and committed to providing fresh analysis on broader political developments in the region.
