The Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Workshop on Regional Security will bring together emerging leaders from the Pacific Islands to explore regional security and environmental challenges, fostering discussions that lead to tangible solutions and building ties between young regional security professionals.

- Pre-Workshop Virtual Activities
- In-person YPL Workshop on Regional Security Workshop in Port Vila, Vanuatu (October 20th to October 23rd, not inclusive of travel days)
- Post-Workshop Virtual Activities
*Please note those selected to participate will need to attend all phases of the program as outlined above. Travel to and from the YPL Workshop will occur in the days prior to October 20th and after October 23rd.
The YPL Program will cover all travel, accommodation, and meals for selected recipients. The YPL Program will only arrange participant travel from YPL-eligible countries to the workshop. If you currently reside outside of the region, you will be responsible for arranging your own travel to a YPL country for workshop travel to Port Vila, Vanuatu. Travel dates may vary based on the location of departure and may require extended layovers depending on flight itineraries. Participants will write an essay on a Pacific security challenge of their choice after completing the workshop. The essays will be compiled and published by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Participants will receive an honorarium for their full participation in all workshop related activities.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet ALL the following criteria to be eligible for the program:
- Applicants must be between 25-40 years old at the time of the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Workshop on Regional Security.
- Applicants must be a citizen and current resident of one of the YPL countries: Australia, the Cook Islands, Fiji, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Islands of French Polynesia, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, and the American-affiliated Pacific including American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Hawaii. *If your country of citizenship and current country of residency is NOT listed, you are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be fluent in English. The YPL Workshop on Regional Security Workshop will be held entirely in English.
- Applicants must have a minimum of two years of work experience.
