Accelerate 175: A Roadmap to Accelerate Renewable Energy Adoption in Key Indian States
This project assesses the perspectives of various state-level stakeholders, identifies state-level barriers to renewable energy installation, and offers potential areas of collaboration for renewable energy cooperation
The project was made possible by our donor Rockefeller Foundation. It was an 8-month project from June 27, 2022 to February 28, 2023.
Deliverables
The project aimed to
- employ a wide range of technical engagements to help states meet their own sub-targets without attracting harmful political attention.
- help state governments improve regulation and governance by utilizing data tools to understand demand response, improve billing accuracy and more
- share tools and practical experiences with states in demand forecasting to better match electricity generation and consumer use
- assist Indian states to build tools to improve weather forecasting,
- provide weather forecasting to consider investments in renewable energy
Outcomes
- The U.S. states, National Labs, Research Institutes supported Indian states in building a portfolio of cost-effective demand and supply-side flexibility solutions. This includes wind and solar power, demand response, demand-side management, and grid-scale storage.
