The Stuart Center will produce original research on the political, economic, and security implications of the British vote to leave the European Union and their effects on Northern Europe.
After forty-three years of membership in the European Union and by a narrow margin, the British people have voted to exit the EU. How will this vote redefine Europe and the US-UK relationship? Will the EU play an active foreign policy and security role? Will the UK be able to sustain its outward looking global role? What role with the United States play in the UK’s negotiation with the EU? How will this decision impact the economic and security developments in Northern Europe, particularly vis-à-vis Russia?
