U.S.-Albania Forum

At a time when Albania’s political progress is being closely scrutinized, with Tirana seeking to fulfill all requirements for European Union (EU) accession, a renewed focus is needed on both sides of the Atlantic to assist Albania in its efforts and to develop joint initiatives with the United States.

Given Tirana’s significant regional role and the invigorated efforts needed to complete necessary reforms to qualify for EU membership, Albania’s strong ties with the U.S. can become an essential component of its progress. At this important juncture Washington can provide valuable recommendations and concrete proposals for developing bilateral relations to the benefit of both partners.
