Climate change will reshape Russian politics, economics, and society. As the European Union and China set ambitious carbon neutrality goals, can Russia transition away from a fossil-fuel export economy? How will climate change interact with regional political dynamics and Russia’s Arctic economic ambitions? Who in Russia is responsible for managing a jarring uptick in environmental disasters? What is the state of environmental activism in Russia? This new initiative from the CSIS Europe, Russia, and Eurasia Program brings leading Russian voices on climate change, civil society, and center-region dynamics to bear on these questions and others.

This initiative is made possible by Carnegie Corporation of New York.
