Ensuring Rights and Protections for Vulnerable Populations

The global surge of populism, nationalism, and extremism, coupled with an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, threatens to undermine international human rights norms and protections for the most vulnerable. HRI uses its expertise and platform to put forth creative, bipartisan strategies to extend equality and dignity to all segments of society. This work has three components: 1) conducting research and generating tangible ideas about how to deal with protracted displacement and ensure that refugees have access to education, economic opportunities, and protection; 2) examining the obstacles and opportunities for enhancing LGBT rights; and 3) rebuilding key alliances and the intellectual and strategic foundation underpinning international human rights norms and institutions. To advance these objectives, HRI is hosting a series of public and private events and producing research on an ongoing basis.
