Army

Perspectives on the past, present, and future of Army Aviation and how today’s force will evolve to meet future challenges.

The Army operates the largest and oldest helicopter fleet of all of the services. While the Army is currently planning to restructure its existing aviation portfolio, it is also the only service to materially support the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) program. FVL aims to develop a new generation of rotorcraft and jump start a new era of innovation for rotorcraft technology. These new aircraft offer the potential for tremendous improvements in speed and range. If acquired, these capabilities will require the development of new concepts of operations to adequately leverage new capabilities.
