About Strategic Futures

Understanding changing trends and emerging issues is important to building more robust strategies in the 21st century. The International Security Program at CSIS works to integrate new ideas about the future into relevant policy discussions. Building off our flagship horizon scanning effort, Seven Revolutions, the Strategic Futures project is carrying out a series of forward looking initiatives on alternative scenarios, non-traditional security, identity, and the future of the United States. CSIS currently works with senior government influencers, Fortune 500 companies, the military, the intelligence community, and other academic groups on using these trends to improve practices for scenario-based analysis and strategy.
