Partnership for Recovery and a Stronger Future: Task Force on U.S.-Japan Cooperation after 3/11

On April 11, 2011, CSIS, in partnership with Keidanren, formed a task force of prominent Americans to examine ways the United States and Japan can partner on recovery and reconstruction from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Chaired by Jim McNerney, Chairman, President and CEO, The Boeing Company, the task force organized working groups on disaster relief and preparedness; economic recovery; energy strategy; health and recovery; lessons for the alliance; and strengthening civil society linkages.

Based on working group deliberations, extensive discussions with colleagues at Keidanren, and travel to the Tohoku region, the task force produced a report outlining Japan’s requirements and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in each of these areas.
