Private Sector Investment in Food Systems of the Future
The private sector can play an integral role in mitigating the challenges of food insecurity by contributing to technological innovation, investment, and sharing expertise.
The U.S. model of attracting private sector investment in global food security and nutrition should pursue a food-system-wide approach to addressing today's global food security and nutrition threats. Stakeholders will need to align on investments and policy implementation to build operational supply chains, distribute technology and tools, develop resilient financing mechanisms, invest in local capacity building and upskilling, and encourage modern sustainable agricultural practices to better address global hunger challenges. Achieving global food security will require assessing the successes and failures of public-private partnerships to date and encouraging businesses to invest in the most critical challenges facing our food systems.
