The quantum industry is at an inflection point as the technology moves from academic to applied research. Quantum technology promises to unleash a wave of downstream innovation, carrying with it a range of opportunities and risks. While commercial quantum applications may be decades away, vigorous R&D enterprises and a supporting ecosystem of upstream suppliers are emerging to capitalize on the quantum revolution. RAI is exploring policies for growing and scaling a quantum industry in the United States to seize the quantum opportunity.
