CSIS U.S.-Vietnam Initiative
The CSIS U.S.-Vietnam Initiative is the premier Washington platform for developing the future leaders of the U.S.-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership and deepening mutual understanding on both sides.
The U.S.-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership is one of Washington’s most important and consequential relationships in the Indo-Pacific. It is underpinned not only by historic ties, but also extensive political, economic, and security cooperation and deep people-to-people connections. In recent years, the relationship has undergone a rapid transformation, culminating in the 2023 upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the highest level in Vietnam’s diplomatic nomenclature.
The CSIS U.S.-Vietnam Initiative, which consists of an annual U.S.-Vietnam conference, analyses, and other efforts, will play a leading role in advancing a high-level policy dialogue on the U.S.-Vietnam relationship.
