CSIS-Pertamina Southeast Asia Energy Initiative

A project to increase attention and understanding of Southeast Asia and energy security

The CSIS-Pertamina Southeast Asia Energy Initiative brings together the CSIS Southeast Asia Program and Energy and National Security Program to increase awareness of energy issues in Southeast Asia throughout the policy community. The initiative will cover an array of energy and security topics aimed at advancing high-level policy understanding.

Throughout 2018, the project will examine the role of renewable energy in Southeast Asia and its economic, political, and security importance in the Indo-Pacific through two off-the-record roundtables, a public forum, and resulting reports.

During its first year (2017) the project focused key energy security issues throughout Southeast Asia, to provide context and analysis for policy makers and Southeast Asian stakeholders, hosting 3 workshops with resulting policy reports.
