Are contributions to the Center for Strategic and International Studies tax deductible?
Yes, CSIS is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our Federal Tax ID number or Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 52-1501082.

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?
Yes, if your gift was made online with a credit card you should receive a receipt immediately. For all other donation types, you will receive a receipt via mail within 3-4 weeks. Are my CSIS online transactions safe?
Yes! CSIS and our credit card processor use industry-leading Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for secure e-commerce transactions. SSL encrypts all of the personal information you submit, including credit card number, name, and address.

How is the Center for Strategic and International Studies governed?
Founded in 1962 by David M. Abshire and Admiral Arleigh Burke, CSIS is a private nonpartisan, nonprofit organization governed by the Board of Trustees. Thomas J. Pritzker was named chairman of the CSIS Board of Trustees in 2015, and John J. Hamre has led CSIS as its president and chief executive officer since 2000.
